"Believe In Local"
This evening I attended a lecture at the Bagdad Theatre in Southeast Portland put on in support of one of our city's mayoral candidates, Eileen Fisher. If you're not too politically savvy, or haven't had the time to keep up with local news lately, Eileen Fisher, the cofounder of New Seasons Market, could be classified as the 2012 election's "Green" candidate. Her personal and business background has her seeking new innovative ways to keep the sustainable motivation of our city alive and prosperous while focusing on pulling inward, and creating a better sense of locality and community.

The Ecological Economics Collaborative is now recruiting new members. We are a PSU student-faculty group that meets weekly to explore relationships between the economy and ecologic systems. Over the past year we’ve read and discussed a great textbook (Ecological Economics 2nd ed. by Daly and Farley) and heard from guest speakers. This year we plan to broaden our activities to include film screenings and collaborations with other student groups.

If you have stories about you and sustainability, share them with us! We'd love to spread the word, and share them with other students.
